James Mault brings more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and clinical medicine fields to his current position as Director of New Products and Business Development for the Microsoft’s Health Solutions Group.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Mault founded five medical device and health monitoring services companies, and led these companies to develop novel technologies, secure FDA approvals, and establish strategic partnerships with dozens of Fortune 500 companies.

Dr. Mault is board-certified in both general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, having specialty practices in heart and lung transplantation, thoracic oncology, and critical care. He has conducted academic medical research under numerous grant awards from National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society Inc., and other organizations. He is also the author of more than 100 published scientific articles, chapters and books, and is the named inventor of dozens of issued and pending patents for a variety of medical devices and health monitoring systems and informatics.

Dr. James Mault holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a medical degree from the University of Michigan, and conducted his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency training at Duke University Medical Center. He maintains a clinical faculty position at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. He is an active member of numerous medical and surgical societies, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians and American Heart Association Inc., and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
